Liz Barber

Director

With a unique background in non-profit, economic development, legislative affairs, and entrepreneurism, Liz is excited to bring her experience (and sunny Florida disposition) to Stafford.

Liz earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with minors in management and marketing from Stetson University. She holds a master’s degree in professional studies with a focus on executive leadership from Hodges University. She is a graduate of the Virginia Institute of Economic Development through Virginia Tech. She also received a certification from Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business in hospitality & tourism management.

When she isn’t working at Stafford to help businesses grow, she’s either on a cruise or planning her next one. She loves to travel, a quality glass of wine, and spending time with family (and rambunctious dog, Buffy).

Savannah Wimbush

Business Development Manager

A native of the Northern Neck, Savannah returned to King George County after a stint in the mountain state. She holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communication from Bluefield University. Prior to returning to the region, Savannah worked for the City of Bluefield, West Virginia’s Economic Development Authority. While there she received congressional recognition for completing her ‘Starting a Business’ Certificate from Santa Clara University.

Savannah joins us from the Stafford County Department of Development Services, where she provided oversight for administrative and operational functions related to code compliance, environmental programs, developer securities, permitting, and the Community Development Service Center. Her primary focus and passion lie in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship, guiding aspiring entrepreneurs through the “idea to open sign pipeline.”

When not at work, Savannah actively engages in community advocacy, but she finds her true peace at the family river house, enjoying Virginia’s scenic waterways – which is why natural resource conservation is so important to her. During the off season, she enjoys road trips to explore the unique character of different small towns with her husband.

Linzy Browne

Marketing Manager

True to her roots, this Florida native brings a sunny perspective to marketing and events. When Linzy is involved, the ideas are fresh and the plan is solid, thanks to a track record in non-profit, government, education, and business marketing. Within the Stafford team, Linzy contributes to marketing strategy, social media management, design, and website performance monitoring.

Linzy received a bachelor’s degree in public relations and environmental policy from the University of West Florida. She holds certifications in digital marketing and Google Analytics. Equally comfortable crunching stats as she is catching waves, Linzy loves water sports, the great outdoors, and craft brews.

Jeriesha Cook Allen

Economic Development Specialist

With experience in several different fields, Jeriesha brings her knowledge of Client Relations, Data & Analytics, Marketing, and Commercial Real Estate to Stafford County. As a part of the Economic Development Department, she specializes in assisting the team in all aspects, both creatively and analytically.

Jeriesha holds an Associate Degree in Design from Brooks College, a Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Certification from Google, and is currently working towards earning her next degree from Harvard University in Extension Studies.

When not in the office, she is passionate about traveling, learning, thrifting, and trying new foods. Jeriesha is always eager to share a smile and is happy to be a part of Team Stafford!

Laura Sassano

Admin Specialist

Hailing from the Old Line State, Laura is a dynamic and creative administrative assistant with a background in public service at the local government level. She is eager to bring her commitment to serving a diverse public to the residents of Stafford County as part of the Economic Development Department.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from the University of Maryland, Global Campus and is currently wrapping up a bachelor’s degree in web and digital design from the same institution.

Outside of work, Laura is an avid roller derby player that skates for Free State Roller Derby, Team Maryland All-Stars, and Small Wonder Skate Club.
